The Chedi and First Thailand Exit

We headed back to Chiang Mai to follow up on our plans to stay in a really nice hotel for a few days during our trip. After a good bit of research we settled on the haughtily named "The Chedi" (haughty for The, not Chedi) because we could get a $300/night room for a fraction of the price during the low season.

The key exquisite, heavy.

The room modern, well-appointed.

The bathroom, visible from the bed.

View of the hotel from our balcony.

Pool. When you go a guy brings two towels (one for you and one for your chair of course) and glasses of ice-water flavored with a hint of lemongrass.

The view as you walk through the hotel's entrance. The hotel is centered around the old British consulate which now serves as the hotel's restaurant.

Afternoon tea.

And the food that comes with the tea. We didn't realize we'd be getting more than a full meal. On the bottom savory, the center scones, the top sweet. The scones come with three spreads including lemon-curd, yum!

Photo-op.

Spoils captured from the breakfast buffet. Absolutely the best breakfast buffet we'd ever been too, and included with the room!

We sadly left the Chedi and returned to our standard $10/night rooms. The next day we both rockclimbed for the first time in our lives. Lauren is a natural. There's me repelling into a cave.

Eating somewhere. Can you understand Thai?

Last meal in Thailand (for now), procured in the Bangkok airport. Lasagna, potato chips, sushi, a characteristic Thai meal.
